About Me:
I’m an athlete who has transitioned from junior to senior ranks, across to middle to long distance events and in that time has developed performances as a multiple British Champion to competing at 3 Olympics. As a passionate grass-root club supporter, I still regularly join sessions at my club or work out of the performance centre at St Mary’s University in the South East. I am an athlete who has experienced a colourful experience of the sport, from dealing with the developmental pressures of the sport to bouncing back from career-threatening injuries to navigating coaching influence or seeking coaching input. At times, collaborating with the WCP has been the most challenging experience in the sport when it doesn’t feel like there is a true athlete-centred approach for the biggest stakeholders in the sport – athletes and their coaches.
I am never far away from understanding the hard pressures the sport faces, which need to reflect healthier cultures and environments and ways of working for those who represent it.
As Chair of the AC, I am a consistently active member who won’t shy away from representing athlete insight for the overall benefit of the sport progressing to serve our athlete and coach community.
From safe-guarding to selection dispute, to policy amendments, to ways of working suggestions, I will always act with integrity and professionalism to ensure a fair and just approach is reflected on behalf of the athlete community.
My favourite thing about athletics:
Delivering and executing a long-term plan / goal but most importantly, sharing it, in pursuit with others around me to bring people along in the journey with me. Whether that be with coaches, family, support personal, training partners or fellow club members.
I’m particularly passionate about athletes being viewed more professionally in their capacity and supporting and educating athletes rights across all platforms of the sport.
